Assam reopens schools, colleges after 4 months

Guwahati/IBNS: After a gap of four months, the schools, colleges, universities in Assam were reopened on Monday in a phased manner.

The authorities of schools, colleges and universities in the state have restarted the classes for the final year students of higher secondary, graduation and post-graduation by following COVID-19 protocols.

The Assam government on Wednesday had issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and was allowed to reopen the educational institutions of the final year classes in Class 12, TDC final year and Post-Graduate final year from September 6.

According to the government directives, the physical classes for the post graduate, graduate, higher secondary final year, GNM/Nursing courses and that of technical institutions shall be allowed for students having at least single dose vaccine.

Classes from 1 to 11, the first seven semesters of graduation and first year of post-graduation will continue with online classes.

Assam closed its schools, colleges in April, when the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic was reported.
