Assam Rifles recover weapons in Manipur's Thoubal

Guwahati/IBNS: The Assam Rifles troops have recovered huge cache of arms in Manipur's Thoubal district on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the troops of Assam Rifles and Thoubal district police commando launched an operation at Lillong area in Thoubal district at around 1-30 pm on  Tuesday.

The team led by Sachidananda Soibam, ASP (Ops) Thoubal and Inspector N. Sadananda Singh, OC CDO and a column of 26 Assam Rifles led by Major Ram Dubey, under the overall supervision of Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh, SP of Thoubal district, conducted a thorough search operation at the area and recovered and seized one Carbine with magazine and one 9mm pistol with magazine.

Police suspected that recovered weapons are country made and kept concealed at the river bank at Awal Masjid Lilong Yangbi Leikai Ward No.3 Part-II. 

The seized weapons were handed over to Lillong police  station for necessary legal action.
