Assam : Three labourers killed in landslide

Guwahati, July 31 (IBNS) : At least three labourers were killed in a landslide in a remote forest area in Assam's Cachar district along with Manipur on Wednesday evening, police said on Thursday.
Police and rescue teams have launched search operation to trace  two other labourers, who were buried by the landslide at Kantum forest area under Jirighat police station in the bordering district.
 
According to reports, five labourers on Sunday went to the forest area and set up a temporary camp.
 
“Incessant rainfall had triggered the landslide in the remote forest area, overrunning the camp and buried them,” a top police official of Cachar district said.
 
Nearest villagers rescued three bodies from the remote area on Wednesday evening.
 
The killed labourers were identified as Ganesh Chetry (40 years) of Dalu Bagan, Kartik bauri ( 42 years) of Binnakandi Bhubandor and Sonu Chetry of Bhubandor.
 
Two other persons Bijon Bauri and Sukumar Bhakt are missing and the rescue team launched has search operation at the area.
