Assam : Two NFFB(S) militants killed, abducted trader rescued

Guwahati, Dec 21 (IBNS) : Two hardcore militants of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit) were killed in gun battle with security forces in Assam's Chirang district along Bhutan border on Sunday, police said.

Security forces rescued an abducted trader in cluster from the militant.

Following a tip-off, a joint team of army and police had launched operation at Chirang reserve forest area along the Bhutan border where a militant group was hiding.

"When the troops reached the remote area the militants started firing and bullets were exchanged in which two militants killed, " Assam police IGP Dr LR Bisnoi said.

Security forces rescued an abducted trader Sushil Deb during the operation.

The slain militants have not been identified so far.

Security forces had recovered one M-16 rifle, one AK series rifle, one insas rifle, two pistols, several rounds live ammunition in possession from the slain militants.


The Assam police on Saturday said that a combing operation will be launched by the specially trained commandos of army, CRPF, BSF, SSB and Assam police against the NDFB militants in bordering areas of Bhutan.
