Australian Envoy Philip Green joins Raksha Bandhan celebration in India, shares heartwarming video
Australia's High Commissioner to India, Philip Green OAM, shared a glimpse of his Raksha Bandhan celebration in India on X, posting a video of an Indian friend visiting him to tie a rakhi, the traditional thread associated with the festival.
The video showed Green taking part in the ceremony as his friend tied the rakhi around his wrist.
Sharing the video on X, Green wrote: "I was charmed that an Indian friend dropped by today to tie the #rakhi on me. A lovely tradition, rooted in love, family and enduring bonds of care and protection."
India celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Friday, with people across the country observing the festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters.
Raksha Bandhan is a popular Hindu festival celebrated annually in India and other parts of South Asia, as well as by communities around the world influenced by Hindu culture.

As part of the traditional ceremony, sisters tie a rakhi around their brothers' wrists as a symbolic gesture of love, protection and familial affection. Brothers, in turn, traditionally offer gifts and reaffirm their commitment to caring for and protecting their sisters.
