Autocar India promotes safe driving

Kolkata, June 12 (IBNS): Automative magazine Autocar India has announced 'The Uncool Moments Contest' that draws the nation's attention to unruly drivers across India.

This is a unique Facebook-based photo contest, which the magazine has thrown open to the public.

This will allow the audience to capture reckless moments of driving and share it through the social media website.

The contest will conclude on June 24 and is open to all residents of India.

According to a 2012 report on Road Accidents in India by the Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, a majority of road fatalities across the country involves young people.

Keeping this in mind, Autocar India, a pioneer in the auto industry is rallying behind the theme of ‘Unsafe is Uncool’, to promote safe and responsible driving amongst today’s youth through the popular social media website, Facebook.

Of all the entries, 10 winners will be selected by expert drivers from Autocar India. Entries that receive the maximum likes and shares will have higher chances to win the contest. Winners shall be treated to high-end goodies such as JBL headphones and GO Puck chargers as contest prizes.

Speaking on the initiative, Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor, Autocar India said, “While Autocar India is all about cars and reaching out to auto aficionados, we also aim to deliver the message of responsible driving. This platform allows the youth today to really identify what is uncool and therefore unsafe. We want to reach out to the growing number of young motorists by involving them in an activity that makes them understand the importance and urgency in exercising caution and driving responsibly.”
