Agartala/IBNS: A day after reports said that an Indian national had been sent back from Akhaura check post by Bangladeshi officials over suspicion of COVID19, Indian Express said that it was, in fact, a Bangladeshi national who was prevented from entering India after being screened with high temperature.

Tripura Health and Family Welfare Director Dr. Radha Debbarma told Indian Express that a Bangladeshi national was detected with high temperature at the check post and he was subsequently sent back over apprehensions of coronavirus infection.

“There is no one infected with coronavirus in Tripura, nor there is any such suspected case. We identified 28 persons who recently travelled to NCOV affected countries. 19 of them have proven clear of the disease. Others haven’t shown any symptoms but are still on self-observation,” Dr. Debbarma was quoted as saying by the news organisation.

Reports said the Tripura government has announced the suspension of border haats(weekly markets) with Bangladesh in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. Earlier, Manipur government sealed its border points with Myanmar as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the disease.

Tripura has 856 Km international borderline with Bangladesh and there are eight Land Custom Stations and an ICP.
