Kolkata/IBNS: Sporadic violence marred the voting process during the West Bengal Assembly elections on Thursday, with a mob attacking central forces near a polling station in Birbhum district.

At least three personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), a police officer, and the driver of a police vehicle were injured in the attack.

The district, considered a stronghold of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), has often witnessed incidents of political violence.

Additional forces were rushed to the spot, and officials said the situation is now under control.
