Bill and Melinda Gates announce to end their 27-yr-long marriage on Twitter

New York: After being together for 27 years, Bill and Melinda Gates are ending their marriage, the couple known for their philanthrophic work worldwide announced in a statement on Twitter. 

"After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage," the statement posted on the verified account of Bill Gates reads.


They had together founded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000.

"We have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives," says the statement by Bill Gates, who is an American business magnate, software developer, investor and philanthropist who co-founded Microsoft Corporation.

"We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives."

From 1995 to 2017, Bill Gates held the Forbes title of the richest person in the world every year except from 2010 to 2013.
