'Bite the hand that feeds you': Jaya Bachchan slams BJP MP Ravi Kishan over 'drug addiction in film industry' comment

New Delhi/IBNS: Opposition parliamentarian Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday slammed actor-turned Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Kishan who on the opening day of Parliament's monsoon session said "drug addiction is in the film industry too".

Hitting out at Kishan, Bachchan, who represents Samajwadi Party (SP) in the Rajya Sabha, said, "Just because of a few people, you cannot tarnish the whole industry."

"I was ashamed yesterday that one of the members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry itself, spoke ill of the industry. Jis thali mein khate hain usi me chched karte hain (Bite the hand that feeds you)," the actress-turned politician added.

Speaking about the drug charges levelled against some of the members of Hindi film industry in the course of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death probe, Kishan in the upper house of Parliament said on Monday, "Drug addiction is in the film industry too. Several people have been apprehended. The NCB has been doing very good work.

"I urge the central government to take strict action against the culprits soon. Give them a befitting punishment and bring an end to this conspiracy by neighbouring countries."

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has already arrested Rajput's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty for allegedly organising drugs for the late actor, who was undergoing mental depression.

Chakraborty, as per reports, has named Bollywood actors Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh and designer Simone Khambatta in her statement to the NCB.
