BJP chief JP Nadda to visit Bengal on Jan 9

| @indiablooms | Jan 02, 2021, at 11:26 pm

bound Bengal on January 9 to boost the morale of party workers ahead of the ensuing Assembly elections.

BJP sources here on Saturday said, the party chief will participate in road shows and number of other programmes in Birbhum and other places of the state during his visit and also attend meetings with senior state party leaders and workers to chalk out strategies for the April-May polls.

This will be Mr Nadda's second visit to Bengal in less than a month.

On December 12, during his first state visit, Mr Nadda's convoy was attacked allegedly by Trinamool Congress activists enroute to Diamond Harbour in South 24-Parganas district.

Even as Mr Nadda had escaped unhurt, Bengal BJP minder Kailash Vijayvargiya and few other party functionaries received injuries.

After the incidents, the MHA had summoned the Bengal Chief Secretary and the DGP in the capital to enquire into the violence.

Three IPS officers were also called for central deputation in Delhi.

A week after, on December 19, in an unprecedented pre-poll "churn" Trinamool rebel and former key minister Suvendu Adhikari led a batch of 10 turncoat MLAs and one MP - eight of them Trinamool deserters, two from Left and one Congress - to the ranks of BJP.
