BJP in Karnataka appoints BS Yeddyurappa's son Vijayendra as party's Yuva Morcha General Secretary

Bengaluru, Apr 24 (IBNS): B. Y. Vijayendra, son of the Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate for Karnatka Assembly polls - B.S. Yeddyurappa, has been appointed the State General Secretary for the Yuva Morcha, it was announced on Tuesday.

The tweet from Karnataka BJP read, "Congratulations to Shri BY Vijayendra on his appointment as State General Secretary, Yuva Morcha. His addition will greatly boost the party cadre and strengthen our organisation in the Old Mysuru region."

" He will be campaigning extensively for candidates in the Old Mysuru region," was also mentioned in the tweet.

On Monday, the expected battle between Vijayendra and the current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son Yatindra turned out to be a sub-plot in the Karnataka poll.

BJP workers in Mysore protested after Chief Ministerial candidate B.S. Yeddyurappa has said his son B. Y. Vijayendra will not contest from the Varuna constituency.

The workers reportedly threatened to resign if B. Y. Vijayendra was not named as their candidate.

Yeddyurappa confirmed the news after a party meeting in Mysuru on Monday.

Earlier it was decided that Vijayendra will take on current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son Yatindra, who will fight his election from the Varuna seat.

After Yeddyurappa left the meeting, the party workers had reportedly ransacked the podium and destroyed furniture.

The Karnatak Assembly poll  is scheduled to be held in a single phase on May 12 and results declared on May 15.
