BJP MP Babul Supriyo condoles party volunteer Somtul Dolui's death

New Delhi, Jun 11 (UNI): BJP MP from West Bengal and Union Minister Babul Supriyo on Tuesday condoled the death of Somtul Dolui, a party volunteer from Uluberia, and attributed the same to 'lawlessness' in the Trinamool Congress-ruled state.

"Deeply saddened at the sad demise of Somtul Dolui, BJP volunteer from Uluberia. His brutal murder hugely portrays the appalling state of lawlessness in our State under Mamata Banerjee's TMC rule," Supriyo tweeted.

It may be mentioned here that on Monday, West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi apprised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on the law and order situation in the state.

The BJP also stepped up attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

'This is a government (West Bengal) being run by the power of guns, pistols and bombs,' Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP incharge of West Bengal told reporters here.

He alleged if the situation continues, it will be in fairness of things that the central government will have to intervene and also make use of the provisions of Article 356.

'Mamata Banerjee herself is responsible for the violence and she is instigating people to take revenge of Trinamool defeat in general elections. Even while we speak in Haldia, a Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) function was disturbed,' he said.

However, another BJP leader Mukul Roy said that the party is not in favour of toppling the Mamata government.

For her part, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the BJP and the Modi government of trying to cause riots and bring down her government and cautioned saying "an injured tiger is more dangerous than a dead tiger".

Several people have lost lives in post poll violence in West Bengal - where Trinamool Congress suffered a major setback during parliamentary polls.

BJP won as many as 18 seats while the tally of Ms Banerjee's outfit came down to 22 from 38 in the previous Lok Sabha.
