BJP, Shiv Sena to form alliance in Maharashtra Assembly poll: Reports

Mumbai, Sept 26 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Siv Sena will once again contest the Maharashtra Assembly elections together where the saffron party will get the lion's share, media reports quoting sources said on Thursday.

The BJP will contest from 144 of the state's 288 seats, NDTV quoting sources reported.

As per the understanding, the Shiv Sena will contest from 126 seats while 18 seats will be shared by smaller allies of the BJP.

According to NDTV report quoting sources, the Shiva Sena will get the post of the Deputy Chief Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi insisted that both the parties should be contesting the elections together this time, said reports.

The formal announcement of the alliance is likely on Sunday.

Elections in Maharashtra will be held on Oct 21.

The results will be declared on Oct 24.
