BJP slams Sidhu for praising Pakistan PM Imran Khan

New Delhi/UNI: BJP on Sunday lashed out at the Congress on twin fronts - party MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu's conduct in Pakistan and on 'National Herald' for carrying an article slamming the Supreme Court verdict on the Ram Temple.

"Sidhu praises Pakistan and sings laurels for Imran Khan and at the same time, speaks poorly about India. Now, it is for Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to decide what they have to say on the conduct of a leader, who is known for being close to them.....," BJP spokesman Sambit Patra told reporters here.

Patra also questioned why and who gave Sidhu the right to 'speak' on behalf of 14 crore Sikhs.

"Who has given the mandate to make this claim.....," he asked.

The BJP spokesman said it was unbecoming of a Congress Legislator to speak in such manner about Khan, describing him as a 'Babbar Sher' and 'Shahenshah'.

He ridiculed Sidhu's comparison of the Pakistan government's decision to agree to open the Kartarpur Corridor as an act, which would be like making a 'favour' to the Indians.

"To call it an 'ehsaan' is not acceptable and we demand that Sonia Gandhi should tender an apology," Patra said.

On the 'National Herald' article, the BJP spokesman said it is sad that a parallelism has been drawn between the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the highest court in India.

The article was titled - 'Why the Ayodhya verdict reminds us of the Supreme Court of Pakistan'.

"Such article is condemnable.....Through the article, is Congress party trying to say that the Supreme

Court has given a verdict that suits the RSS and the BJP?," the BJP spokesman wondered.

"There is no judicial system in the whole world as transparent and as democratic as the judicial system of India," Patra said.
