BJP to fight Lok Sabha polls alone in Punjab

| @indiablooms | Mar 26, 2024, at 06:23 pm

New Delhi/UNI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday decided to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Punjab alone and would not form an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

The announcement was made by the State Party President Sunil Jakhar, who said the party would contest the Lok Sabha election alone.

"This decision was taken based on the opinion of the people and party workers in the state. The decision was taken keeping in mind the welfare of farmers and businessmen," Jakhar said in a post on X.

Jakhar said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 10 years, farmers in Punjab have received MSP for their crops within the week.

"The Kartarpur corridor, for which people have been requesting for decades, was also made possible under PM Modi because of the blessings of Waheguru," the Punjab BJP chief further said.

Polling for 13 seats in Punjab will be held on June 1. Punjab has a total of 13 Lok Sabha constituencies.
