Srinagar/UNI:  Former Union minister and senior Congress leader Saifuddin Soz on Tuesday urged External Affairs Minister Subhramanyam Jaishankar to immediately repatriate Kashmiri students stuck in Kazakhstan since the suspension of air traffic.

In a statement here this afternoon, Prof Soz said he has requested Dr Jaishankar to take urgent measures to repatriate 80 Kashmiri students held up at Almati and Noor Sultan cities in Kazakhstan to Kashmir.

''I urged the minister that there is urgent need for their repatriation as they are facing conditions of hardship, particularly in respect of finance stringency,'' he said.

Prof Soz said he spoke to the senior officer in the MEA who is in-charge of Central Asian Region, Manish Prabhat who assured him that he would sort out this matter with India's Ambassador to Kazakhstan who will ensure the return of these students before June 14, under the Vande Bharat Mission.
