BSF Constable fires towards his colleagues

Kolkata, Feb 17 (IBNS): A Border Security Force constable, Basant Singh, opened fire on his fellow colleagues, killing one and injuring three others, while being on duty in the BSF camp at Malda in West Bengal on Tuesday, officials said on Tuesday.

He opened fire in the camp itself using his personnel weapon issued for duty.

Head Constable Mool Chand, Constable K Prabhakar, Constable A. Jaman Basha and Constable Surender Singh were recieved bullet injuries

They were administered first aid in unit MI Room and further shifted to a civil hospital of Malda, officials said.

They were further taken to Dishahari Hospital in Malda for treatment.

Mool Chand succumbed to his injuries at Dishahari hospital Malda and others were heavily injured.

Singh, however, fled away from the camp.

In this regard, an FIR has been lodged at the Police Station of Baishnav Nagar in Malda.

The police have increased their raid to apprehend the constable from the place of occurrence.

A Court of Enquiry has been ordered to find out the facts to answer under which circumstances, Singh opened fire at Baishnav Nagar BSF campus Malda towards his colleagues and subsequently fled away from the spot.
