BSF seizes gold consignment, arrests one

Kolkata, May 9 (IBNS): The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday seized 21 gold biscuits weighing approximately 2.340 Kg from the possession of one Indian national, here.

Acting on a specific input, the troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Tarali from the 152 battalion of BSF on Friday seized 21 gold biscuits weighing approx. 2.340 Kg from the possession of one Rustam Sardar (50 years) of Hakimpur under police station - Swarupnagar in North 24 Pgns.

The BSF earlier got an input that a gold consignment will be smuggled to Kolkata, and based on the information, the troops planned a special operation and on Friday apprehended Indian national Rustam Sradar.

A total 21 gold  biscuits (2.340 Kg) wroth  Rs. 65 lacs as per market value were recovered from his possession.

The BSF later handed over the seized gold and the apprehended person to the local customs authority for further disposal as per law of land.

As of now, the BSF has seized gold worth Rs. 7.60 crores and  apprehended 24 gold smugglers in 2014.
