By-election to three Legislative Council seats on May 31

Hyderabad, May 7 (UNI) Bypoll to three Telangana Legislative Council seats from Local Authorities' Constituencies, will be held on May 31.

The seats fell vacant following the resignation of sitting MLCs in December last year.

The Election Commission on Tuesday announced the schedule for the by-election to the three casual vacancies in Telangana Legislative Council from Ranga Reddy Local Authorities’ Constituency; Nalgonda Local Authorities’ Constituency and Warangal Local Authorities’ Constituency .

The vacancies were caused due to the resignation of Patnam Narender Reddy ( Ranga Reddy Local Authorities’ Constituency); Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy ( Nalgonda Local Authorities’ Constituency) and Konda Muralidhar Rao ( Warangal Local Authorities’ Constituency).

Patnam Narender Reddy and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned their MLC seats following their election as MLAs in the recent Assembly election while Konda Muralidhar Rao also resigned after he joined the Congress party before the Assembly election.

As per the notification issued by the EC, May 14 will be the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on May 15 and May 17 will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

The voting will start at 0800 hrs and end at 1600 hours and the model code of conduct came into force with immediate effect in the three LA constituencies.

The counting of votes will be held on June 3 and the Commission said the election process shall be completed in all respects by June 7, 2019.
