Can't say no to my friend Tony: Modi
Melbourne, Nov 18 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hailed the "beauty of democracy" that enabled him to meet the leaders from both the ruling party as well as the oppositions during the official dinner hosted by his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
"It's the beauty of democracy. The leaders of ruling and opposition parties are here," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) India quoting Modi tweeted.
Modi also recalled that Abbott was the first international guest who visited India after the NDA government under his leadership came to power.
"PM @TonyAbbottMHR came in September. He was the first guest since we formed the Government," Modi stated.
Commenting on his visit to Australia, the Indian PM said he can't say no to his "friend Tony".
"People asked me isn't it too soon to visit Australia after @TonyAbbottMHR just visited. I said I can't say no to my friend Tony," the PMO tweeted quoting Modi.
Prime Minister Modi also renewed his invitation to Abbott to visit India again at his convenience. They agreed that high-level visits played a key role in enhancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
