CBI doing everything to extradite Nirav Modi

New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI/IBNS): Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is taking all necessary steps to expedite the extradition process of fugitive Nirav Modi, sources said on Tuesday.

The process is long and is likely time consuming. However, the probe agency is doing everything to avoid any delay and to expedite the extradition, they said.

If required, the central agency will also send its team abroad to support the process.

The CBI is in regular touch with the other country's government, and during the process at times the response is fast and at times it involves time due to the legalities that need to be done, the sources said.

CBI director hears grievances

Meanwhile, after a time of transfers and tussle in the agency, the CBI officials now have an option of meeting the director every Friday evening to share their professional or personal grievances or problems.

Any officials of the agency can approach the director with professional or personal problem on Friday evenings.

So far, around 40 officials have met the director and discussed their problems.

This initiative will contribute in building a good atmosphere and working environment in the organisation.

Nirav Modi spotted again in London

Billionaire diamond merchant Nirav Modi, who is wanted in India in the Rs 13,600 crore PNB scam, was spotted by the media in London for the second time in this month.

This comes a day after the Westminster Magistrates Court in London issued an arrest warrant against the businessman, who is wanted in India.

Nirav Modi's response to the media's questions remained the same, that being: "No comments."

The 48-year-old, who is living in London, can be arrested any time after the warrant has been issued.

Modi's arrest can enable the start of a trial at the UK court, which can also decide whether to extradite him to India.
