CBI raids university office in Shantiniketan in West Bengal

| | May 24, 2016, at 08:18 pm
Kolkata/Bolpur, May 24 (IBNS) CBI raided the office of Viswa Bharati, the university located in Shantiniketan in West Bengal, according to media reports.
Viswa Bharati is a central university that was originally founded by Rabindranath Tagore.

"CBI raids Viswa Bharati University office in Bengal's Santiniketan over alleged irregularities by sacked Vice Chancellor, " tweeted NDTV on Tuesday.

In February 2016, President Pranab Mukherjee approved the removal of Visva-Bharati vice chancellor Sushanta Dattagupta after a fact-finding committee found him guilty of various charges, including allegedly making 25 illegal appointments, drawing pension from JNU along with his salary from Visva-Bharati without getting it deducted from his pay, etc, media reported.

Local sources claim the house of the sacked VC was also raided.

More information is awaited.
