Centre allowed situation to deteriorate: AAP on Delhi violence

| @indiablooms | Jan 27, 2021, at 01:10 am

New Delhi/UNI: Strongly condemning the violence in the national capital on Tuesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that it is regrettable that the Central government allowed the situation to deteriorate to such an extent.

"We strongly condemn the violence seen in today's protest. It is regrettable that the Central govt allowed the situation to deteriorate to such an extent. The movement has been peaceful for the last two months," the AAP said in a statement.

It further said that Tuesday's violence has weakened the peaceful protest that was going on from the past two months in a peaceful manner.

"The farmers' leaders have said that those who indulged in violence today were not part of the movement and were external elements," the party added.

Violent clashes erupted earlier in the day when a section of farmers decided to enter Delhi to register their protest against the three contentious farm laws, much ahead of the time they were granted permission by the Delhi police.

Dramatic scenes of violent clashes were witnessed when the farmers reached the ITO area of Central Delhi.

Several people were injured in the clashes but the exact number is yet to be determined.

Till now, according to sources, one farmer has lost his life.
