Centre discriminating against states in fight against Covid pandemic: AAP MP

| @indiablooms | May 08, 2021, at 12:54 am

Chandigarh/UNI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab president Bhagwant Mann on Friday appealed to the central government to stop 'discriminating' against the states in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic and release the supply of oxygen gas, medical equipment and medicines, required to save the Covid patients.

In a statement here, Mann said that the Coronavirus had badly affected the residents of the country.

Additionally, he stated that Punjab is an important state of India and the number of Covid victims in the state was increasing day by day, while the mortality rate of Covid victims was very high and was a matter of great concern.

The AAP Member of Parliament said that there was a dearth of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff as well as life-saving equipment, oxygen gas and medicines in the state.

''While Chief Minister Amarinder Singh is responsible for the recruitment of doctors and other staff, the central government is responsible for the supply of oxygen and medicines,'' he added.

He alleged that the central government was not providing enough oxygen and injections for the treatment of the victims, whereas on the contrary, the BJP-ruled states were being provided with exclusive supplies.

He also pleaded that the Punjab government should be ready to deal with the deteriorating situation in the state due to the Covid pandemic.

He asserted that the CM should put pressure on the Union government for the required medicines and oxygen’s availability at the hospitals in the state.
