Chennai mediapersons walk out of Jignesh Mevani presscon when he directs Republic TV to leave

Chennai, Jan 17 (IBNS): As Gujarat leader Jignesh Mevani tried to evict from a press conference the Republic TV journalist, scribes from different TV channels in Chennai in a show of solidarity walked out from the press conference.

Mevani had directed the Republic TV journalist to leave his press conference.

During the press conference on Tuesday after journalists placed their microphones on the table, Mevani saw Republic TV microphone among them and said: "Who is the Republic TV’s reporter? I won’t talk to Republic."

“I won’t answer questions. Remove the mic,” he said.

Shabbir Ahmed, a reporter from Times Now, was then quoted as saying, “You can’t demand that (which mic should be there and which should not). We don’t want this press conference, you can go.”

The Press conference ended with the Gujarat  leader not taking any question.

The journalists from other media houses showed solidarity and walked out from the press conference.

Reacting to the incident, Mevani tweeted: "The nation wants to know tonight why I did this. Answer is : my integrity is impeccable. Be critical but don't try to hit below the belt."
