Chhattisgarh: Maoist attack at Congress MLA Vikram Mandavi's convoy; no casualties

| @indiablooms | Apr 19, 2023, at 01:56 am

New Delhi: Maoists on Tuesday attacked the convoy of Congress MLA Vikram Mandavi in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur while he was returning from a public meeting, media reports said.

There were no casualties in the attack. Along with Mandavi, panchayat member Parvati Kashyap was also travelling in the convoy when the incident occurred.

MLAs and other political leaders in Chhattisgarh have frequently been targeted by Maoist attacks.

In April 2019, Maoists ambushed the convoy of BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi in the Dantewada region, killing him in the attack.

The attack had taken place two days before the first phase of the national election in April 2019 in the Maoist-affected Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.

The Maoists had issued warnings to locals not to participate in the election.
