Chinnamma takes oath as AIADMK chief

Chennai, Dec 31 (IBNS): Sasikala Natarajan formally took over as the general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Saturday in Chennai, according to media reports.

Interestingly, she rode to the venue in the Land Cruiser which was used by former Chief Minister and her friend J Jayalalithaa, media reported.

Sasikala garlanded the late MGR's statue at the headquarters and paid her tributes to late Jayalalithaa's photo.

At the party's headquarters in Chennai, Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Pannerselvam and other party leaders were present for the oath-taking ceremony.

While her late friend and former CM Jayalalithaa was known was known as 'Amma', Sasikala is being called 'Chinnamma; (little mother) by her party members.

AIADMK members gathered in a large numbers at the party headquarters to witness Chinnamma taking charge as AIADMK General Secretary, media reported.

Earlier in the week, AIADMK adopted resolution to work under the leadership of Chinnamma.
