Chirag Paswan is in direct fight with RLSP candidate in Jamui
Patna, Apr 1 (UNI) Actor-turned-politician and outgoing Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP from Jamui Lok Sabha constituency Chirag Paswan is pitted against Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) candidate Bhudeo Chaudhary in the constituency in this election.
Unlike in 2014 Lok Sabha election when former Bihar Assembly speaker Uday Narain Choudhary had made the contest triangular by entering into the fray as JD (U) candidate, this time there is a direct fight between Paswan and Chaudhary.
Chaudhary had won from Jamui Lok Sabha constituency in 2009 when he had defeated RJD candidate Shyam Rajak by a margin of 29797 votes.
The irony of Jamui Lok Sabha (reserved) constituency, facing the menace of ultra left extremist since long is that it has been off the list of parliamentary constituencies in Bihar for nearly 38 years.
After independence of the country, Lok Sabha election to Jamui constituency was held for the first time in 1952 but the constituency was merged with Munger Lok Sabha constituency in 1957 losing its identity in the process.
Jamui Lok Sabha constituency’s identity was restored in 1962 parliamentary election but it lost its identity in 1977 after it was caught in quagmire of delimitation exercise. Jamui Lok Sabha came to existence for another time in 2009 Lok Sabha election.
