Chitrakoot by-poll: Congress congratulates Nilanshu Chaturvedi

Mumbai, Nov 12 (IBNS): The Congress on Sunday congratulated its candidate Nilanshu Chaturvedi for winning the Chitrakoot assembly by-elections by over 14,000 votes.

The party tweeted: "Congratulations to Nilanshu Chaturvedi and @INCMP on the victory! #राम_की_नगरी_में_कांग्रेस."

The Congress on Sunday emerged victorious in the Chitrakoot assembly by-elections by over 14,000 vote.

With this win, the Congress party retains the Chitrakoot Assembly Constituency.

Congress candidate Nilanshu Chaturvedi got 68,810 votes while Bharatiya Janata Party's Shankar Dayal Tripathi got 52,677 votes in the crucial bye-polls.

The bypoll had to be held following the death of Congress MLA Prem Singh.

The voting was held on Nov 9, which witnessed 65 per cent voters turnout.
