'Choose your side': TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee's ultimatum to Mamata in open revolt against Abhishek

Kolkata/IBNS: Senior Trinamool Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee has launched a blistering attack on party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, describing him as "arrogant" and "disrespectful" amid the growing turmoil within the ruling party.

Kalyan Banerjee's remarks came after he was allegedly removed as a lawyer representing Abhishek Banerjee in the ongoing signature forgery case without prior consultation.

'He Doesn't Know How to Speak to Senior Leaders'

Speaking to reporters, Kalyan Banerjee, a close aide of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, expressed his anger over the manner in which he was informed about his removal.

"My son received a message saying I had been replaced as a lawyer, so I decided to leave. I have been in public life for 45 years, yet he doesn't know how to speak to a senior leader. His arrogance is unbelievable. Has he learnt nothing from the defeat?" he said.

'Party Is Suffering Because of His Arrogance'

The veteran TMC leader accused Abhishek Banerjee of damaging the party's image and alienating senior leaders.

"I am not an employee of the Camac Street office. He needs to understand that the party is suffering because of his attitude and arrogance.

"I am known as one of the most honest politicians, yet because of him, the entire party is being branded as corrupt and our lives are under threat," Kalyan Banerjee said.

Warning to the TMC Leadership

In his strongest remarks yet, Kalyan Banerjee indicated that his future in the party would depend on Mamata Banerjee's stand on Abhishek.

"Let me be clear: if Didi chooses to continue with Abhishek, I will not remain with the party. But if Didi distances herself from Abhishek, I will stand firmly with her," he said.

Fresh Sign of Growing Internal Dissent

The remarks are being seen as the latest sign of escalating tensions within the Trinamool Congress, which has been facing a series of resignations and public criticism from leaders in recent days.

Notably, Kalyan Banerjee had stood firmly by Mamata Banerjee even during the recent CID searches at premises linked to the Chief Minister, making his latest attack on Abhishek Banerjee politically significant.
