CJI lambasts Centre for inadequate facilities for judiciary

New Delhi, Nov 26 (IBNS) : Chief Justice of India TS Thakur on Saturday lambasted the Narendra Modi Government, saying it was not ready to give proper facilities to judiciary, reports said.

"Today 500 judges posts are vacant in High Courts, today we have vacant court room, but no judges," the CJI said.

Justice Thakur said  the judiciary is not against the formation of Tribunals because it relieves court duties, but inadequate infrastructure is all that creates problem.

"Tribunals are not equipped and are lying empty. Today a situation has come that when no retired Supreme Court judge wants to head the Tribunal. I am pained to send my retired colleagues there. Government is not ready to give proper facilities," he said.

He said vacancy, apart from infrastructure, is a major concern for Tribunals.
