Coal scam case: Former bureaucrat HC Gupta, five others convicted

New Delhi, Nov 30 (IBNS): Former bureaucrat HC Gupta and five others have been convicted by the Delhi High Court in connection with the case pertaining to irregularities in allocations of coal blocks in West Bengal, media reports said.

Gupta, who retired in 2008, was the coal secretary for two years under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
 
The former bureaucrat was accused of not following the procedures of auctioning to allocate coal blocks.
 
He was booked in almost eight cases.
