Kolkata, Jul 14 (UNI) A Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) delegation is expected to visit the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) regional headquarters here on Sunday for regional and zonal commander level meeting concerning coastal security.

The visiting delegation, led by Captain Shah Mohammed Moyeen Uddin, zonal commander, south zone, will visit ICG regional HQ North-East from July 15 to 18 for regional/zonal commander level meeting, a local newspaper, quoting an ICG spokesman, said.

The other officials accompanying the delegation include BCG officers from different fields. A senior officer from Bangladesh's Ministry of Home Affairs will also be present.

The report said the zonal commander will interact with Inspector General Rajan Bargotra, commander, ICG region (NE) and his staff.

On Tuesday a staff level meeting between both Coast Guards is scheduled here to dwell on common maritime issues like sensitisation of fishermen on cross border fishing, real-time information sharing, capacity building of BCG through training and expertise sharing on maritime issues.

The delegation would be provided with an overview of measures taken to provide maritime safety and security in West Bengal and Odisha.

The foreign delegation will also visit Haldia on July 17 and be taken on board an ICG hovercraft.

The visit assumes significance in the wake of an Indian fisherman being rescued by a Bangladeshi ship off the Chittagong coast on Thursday, five days after his trawler capsized in the waters of the neighbouring country.
