Congress abused me because I come from backward class: PM Modi

Madha, Apr 17 (IBNS): Launching a scathing attack on the Opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the Congress has abused him because he comes from a backward class.

"Congress and its associates call all Modis thieves. They have abused me because I come from a backward class. This time they have abused the entire backward community," Modi said while addressing a rally in Maharashtra's Madha.

The Prime Minister made the comment after Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said at a Maharashtra rally that all thieves have Modi in their names.

Gandhi had listed Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi as examples.

Hitting out at Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Modi on Wednesday said: "Sharad Pawar as the Union Minister could have taken steps for the farmers. But he was only interested in his profits and not farmers."

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Pawar's NCP is fighting the Lok Sabha polls in an alliance with Congress in Maharashtra.
