Congress attacks PM Modi over his 'no intrusion of Chinese soldiers' claim

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress, the country's main opposition party, on Saturday trained its guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his claim that no Chinese soldier entered into the Indian territory at Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh which saw a deadly clash between the army personnel of both the nations on Jun 15 night.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, the second most important person in the party, tweeted, "PM has surrendered Indian territory to Chinese aggression. If the land was Chinese: 1. Why were our soldiers killed? 2. Where were they killed?"

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram in a series of tweets questioned the PM whether he has given a "clean chit" to China.

Chidambaram tweeted, "PM said there is no foreigner (meaning Chinese) in Indian territory. If this is true, what was the fuss about May 5-6? Why was there a fight between troops on June 16-17? Why did India lose 20 lives?"

"If there was no intrusion or violation of LAC, why was there so much talk about “disengagement” of troops by both sides?"

"Has PM given a clean chit to China? If so, what is there to negotiate with China? Why are the Major Generals negotiating and about what?"

Nobody crossed our borders, martyrs taught them a lesson: Modi

During an all-party meeting on India-China face-off at Ladakh, Modi on Friday said that neither anyone crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and entered the country nor any of the posts have been captured while assuring that the Indian soldiers are capable of protecting the borders.

"I can assure that neither anyone has crossed our borders nor has any post been captured," Modi said at the all-party meeting.

"Twenty bravehearts have been martyred in the face-off but they taught a lesson to those who raised an eye at Bharat Mata," he said.

Modi reiterated that the Indian soldiers will take all necessary actions to give a befitting reply to all who hurt the country's territorial integrity.

India-China faceoff in Ladakh

More than four decades after the last fatality occurred during a conflict at the India-China border, at least 20 Indian personnel were killed in the conflict with the Chinese military at the Galwan Valley, which is close to Aksai Chin, an area that is controlled by China but claimed by both the countries.

In a strong reaction to the violent standoff, Modi had earlier said his nation wants peace but can give a befitting reply, if instigated, reminding people of the airstrike conducted by the Indian Army following the Pulwama terror attack in 2019.
