Congress-HSDC to jointly fight in KAAC poll

Guwahati, Apr 24 (IBNS): Congress and Hills State Demand Committee (HSDC) will jointly fight in the forthcoming polls of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).

During a crucial meeting held at Green Wood Resort in Guwahati on Monday, both party decided to jointly fight against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the council poll.

HSDC leader and former MP Dr Jayanta Rongpi said that, his party will fight in the council polls with Congress.

“We had discussed several issues of election including seat share in the meeting. After declaration of poll dates both party to announce their candidates,” Jayanta Rongpi said.

“Seat sharing has yet to be finalized but we hope Congress and HSDC will show grand success in the poll,” Jayanta Rongpi said.

The meeting was held in presence of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, opposition leader Debabrata Saikia, Congress MP Biren Singh Engti, former ministers Kharsing Engti, Rockybul Hussain, former Congress MLA Bidyasing Engleng, HSDC leader Haliram Terang.

On the other hand Congress leader Debabrata Saikia said that, Congress and HSDC will win maximum seats in the forthcoming polls and both party to jointly form the next council.
