Congress making Pakistan's argument: BJP slams Vijay Wadettiwar's 'Ajmal Kasab did not kill Hemant Karkare' remark

| @indiablooms | May 06, 2024, at 07:47 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: The BJP has lashed out at the Congress over its LoP in Maharashtra Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar's controversial remark where he claimed Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare was not killed by Pakistan-based terrorist Ajmal Kasab but a policeman linked to the RSS during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya took to X to slam the Congress over "appeasement politics" and accused the grand old party of making the argument similar to the ones usually placed by India's hostile neighbour Pakistan.

Malviya posted on X, "Like the Batla House encounter, Congress leader and LoP in Maharashtra Assembly, Vijay Namdevrao Wadettiwar says, "'Hemant Karkare was not killed by bullets of terrorists, like Ajmal Kasab, but by a cop close to the RSS."

"This is shocking and demeaning those who laid down their lives fighting the worst ever terror attack on India, just to appease a community, for votes. This is the same argument Pakistan makes in their defence."

Speaking to the reporters on Sunday, Wadettiwar said as quoted by Deccan Herald, "Hemant Karkare was not killed by bullets of terrorists like Ajmal Kasab, but by a policeman close to RSS…

"Ujjwal Nikam, who appeared as special public prosecutor, is a traitor who suppressed this fact and BJP has given an election ticket to a traitor who suppressed this fact and BJP has given an election ticket to a traitor like him."

Meanwhile, the BJP has moved the Election Commission of India (ECI) seeking action against Wadettiwar for defaming Nikam, who is fighting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Dropping outgoing MP Poonam Mahajan, the BJP has fielded public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam from the Mumbai North Central constituency.

Soon after Nikam's candidature, Congress had hit out at the BJP claiming the saffron party fielded someone who allegedly lied about Kasab being served Biryani in jail.
