CS level meeting held on issues of granting ST (Plain) Status to six communities in Assam
The Chief Secretary and other high level officers of the State Government discussed at length with the leaders of the Communities on various issues involved in the process of granting ST (Plain) status to the six communities.
The Chief Secretary assured that he will take up the matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and will try to expedite the process.
He also called on the leaders of the six communities to extend all-out cooperation to the State Government and jointly work towards the expeditious solution of the issues.
The meeting was also attended by TY Das, Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Political Department; Rajiv Bora, Additional Chief Secretary, Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes Department; Mukesh Sahay, Director General of Police; Pallab Bhattacharya, Additional Director General of Police (SB); LS Changsan, Commissioner and Secretary, Home and Political Department; and BR Samal, Commissioner and Secretary, Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes Department.
