New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Kalaikunda Air Base in Bengal's West Midnapore district Friday to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Yaas.

Cyclone Yaas hit West Bengal and Odisha on Tuesday, ravaging the nieghbouring states.

After meeting PM, Banerjee tweeted: "After having review meetings in Hingalganj & Sagar, I met the Hon’ble PM in Kalaikunda & apprised him regarding the post-cyclone situation in WB. The disaster report has been handed over for his perusal. I’ve proceeded now to review the relief & restoration work at Digha."

Meanwhile, Modi undertook an aerial survey to review the situation in the wake of Cyclone Yaas.

The aerial survey covered parts of Odisha and West Bengal.

This was the first meeting between the two leaders since the April-May held West Bengal Assembly polls.

Mamata Banerjee and her Trinamool Congress returned to power for the third straight term by registering a strong victory in the polls.
