DDC election: 28.71 pc votes polled till 1300 hrs in Kashmir

Srinagar/UNI: Around 28.71 per cent votes were polled till 1300 hrs on Saturday in 25 constituencies during the first phase of District Development Council (DDC) elections amid tight security in Kashmir valley.

An official spokesperson said that the highest voting percentage was recorded in Budgam with 47.44 per cent polling till 1300 hrs.

Meanwhile, the lowest 6.08 per cent votes were polled in Pulwama in south Kashmir, where internet has been suspended for security reasons.

“Kupwara has recorded voting percentage of 34.10 per cent, Bandipora 34.18 per cent, Baramulla 25.58 per cent, Ganderbal 36.26 per cent and Srinagar 29.94,” he said.

He said 22.37 per cent votes were polled in Shopian, 24.49 in Kulgam and 26.65 in Anantnag till 1300 hrs.
