A 36-year-old businessman, Shivam Gupta, succumbed to his injuries on January 19, two weeks after being brutally attacked by three food delivery riders in Delhi’s Connaught Place, media reports said.

The incident took place on the night of January 3, when the attackers allegedly assaulted Gupta with helmets following an argument.

He was left bleeding on the pavement in the busy commercial hub.

Police rushed Gupta to a hospital, where doctors found critical internal injuries, particularly to his head. Despite undergoing surgery and showing some signs of response in the following days, Gupta could not recover.

Authorities have arrested two of the accused, while a third remains at large. CCTV footage from the area is being examined, and Gupta’s blood-stained clothes have been sent for forensic analysis.

Speaking about the tragedy to the media, Gupta’s father, Anil Kant Gupta, who runs shops in Paharganj, said, “My son was my everything. Now, we only hope for justice. The culprits must be punished severely so that no one else has to go through this.”

Shivam had left his Laxmi Nagar home on January 2 to attend a party, and when family members could not reach him, they were alerted by the police that he had been hospitalized.

The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the third accused and determine the motive behind the attack.
