New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi Government on Wednesday started a COVID-19 Care centre at the Shakurbasti Washing lines with a total capacity to cater to 800 patients in 50 coaches.

As of now, 10 coaches have been operationalised and the facility will be enhanced as per the need.

Presently only asymptomatic or very mild symptomatic patients are being accommodated here.

It is a joint effort of GNCTD, District Administration, AMC ( Army Medical Corps ) & Railways. The Army Medical Corps has provided with the healthcare workers.

The railway is proving catering to patients.

This facility will be highly beneficial for isolating the patients and treating them who don’t have isolation facilities at home.

Patients will be provided food regularly through the railways and medical attention by the AMC.

This comes as a benefit for the mildly infected patients especially since the hospitals in the national capital are facing a shortage of beds owing to the sudden spike in the contagion.
