Delhi recovered from second wave of Covid-19 early September: Kejriwal

New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said the capital has overcome the second wave of Covid-19 early September when cases crossed 4,000 every day.

Delhi is the second state to have reported a second wave of infection, the first being Kerala which experienced it in December.

Speaking in PUSA, today, Kejriwal said Delhi witnessed a second peak in Covid-19 cases but the situation has improved. Delhi, currently, stands at fifth position with 2,56,789 cases.

Kejriwal said on September 16 the national capital recorded approximately 4,500 cases, but, thereafter cases started to decline in Delhi, and in the last 24 hours 3,700 cases came up, showing a substantial drop.

According to reports, the daily spike in Covid cases, and deaths between September 15 and September 19 are: 4,263 (36 deaths); 4,473 (33); 4,432 (38); 4,127 (30); and 4,071 (38), according to government data.

Delhi recorded its first Coronavirus case in March. The cases continued to increase, thereafter, and the first decline was recorded in July when the number of cases recorded every day ranged between 1,000 and 1,500.
