Rohtak/UNI: Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is undergoing a 20-year jail sentence for raping two of his followers, was granted parole on Friday to look after his ailing mother.

A senior prison official said that parole was granted to the Dera Sacha Sauda chief after taking feedback from administration and the police as every prisoner has a right to get it.

He further said that Singh was granted a day-long parole last year also.

The Dera Sacha Sauda chief, who had sought parole four days ago, has been taken to Gurugram to meet his ailing mother amid heavy police security.

On October 24, 2020, he was given one day parole to meet his mother, who was admitted in a Gurugram hospital.
