Bengaluru, Mar 14 (IBNS): Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Deve Gowda moved to tears over allegations of nepotism while launching his party's Lok Sabha poll campaign recently at an event, media reports said.

Gowda has been quoted by NDTV, "...so many allegations, from morning in the media (they talk about) Deve Gowda, Revanna, Kumaraswamy and their sons."

Incidentally, Gowda's two grandsons- Nikil Kumaraswamy and Prajwal Revanna- are contesting the upcoming polls from Mandya and Hassan, which are the bastions of JD(S), respectively.

The Congress and JD(S) are fighting the polls in an alliance.

The former Prime Minister said he is pained by the controversy over Nikil's candidature in Mandya seat. Nikil is the son of Gowda's son HD Kumaraswamy, who is the present Karnataka Chief Minister.

"It was the decision of JD(S) leaders to field Nikil from Mandya. I had not announced.I''m deeply pained, they are saying Nikhil Go Back...," Gowda has been quoted by NDTV.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is presently the opposition party in the southern state, called the entire incident a "drama".

BJP Karnataka tweeted, "If "CRYING" was an art Sri. @H_D_Devegowda & his family would hold the record for mastering the "Art Of Crying" to constantly fool people for decades. Matter of the fact is Before elections Deve Gowda & his family cries. After elections people who vote this family cries."
