Election Commission recognises JD(U) as state party in Arunachal Pradesh

Patna, Jun 7 (UNI): Election Commission today recognised JD(U) as a state party in Arunachal Pradesh after it won seven seats in recently-concluded Assembly elections in the state.

Election Commission sources said that JD(U) had been recognised as state party in Arunachal Pradesh after the party won seven of the 15 seats contested in the state in Assembly elections which were held recently along with Lok Sabha elections. The symbol 'Arrow' had also been allotted and reserved for JD(U) in Arunachal Pradesh, sources added.

The JD(U) is now a recognised state party in Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, also the president of JD(U), heads the NDA government in Bihar. JD(U) is second largest party in Arunachal Pradesh Assembly after the BJP, which has 37 seats.
