Election in Delhi is all about ideological battle, says Amit Shah

New Delhi/UNI: Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the ensuing election in Delhi is all about 'ideological battle' and wondered why Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is silent on issues related to sedition charge against JNU protestors Umar Khalid and Kanhaiya Kumar.

"Mein 12 din sey chilla kar poocch raha hoon, magar woh chup hae (I am raising this issue for last 12 days, but Kejriwal is silent)," Shah said addressing election meetings in Kamla Nagar area here.

He said the Delhi government is sitting over the issue for over one year but not giving permission to prosecute them in the sedition charge of 2016 case.

"This year's Delhi election is all about ideological war. On one side there is Rahul Gandhi of Congress and there is Mr Kejriwal and his party - these people are not concerned about national security and are only indulging in appeasement politics," Shah said.

On the other hand, the Home Minister said - there is BJP and the central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi - who are committed to national security.

He said Kejriwal is silence on the issue of sedition charges against former JNU students' union leaders as he "does not have the courage to speak out".

Directing his tirade against the AAP regime further, the Home Minister said, "Sharjeel Imam lately spoke about cutting off Assam from the rest of India, he called for break up of India and said there should be traffic jam in Delhi."

Shah said: "Kejriwal had tweeted and asked me that we should arrest Sharjeel, we have arrested the very next day."
