Engineering courses in private colleges to become dearer in Karnataka
Bengaluru, Mar 2 (UNI): Karnataka Government has announced 10 per cent hike in fees for the private Engineering Colleges in the State, said Higher Education Minister, G T Devegowda.
The Minister, who chaired a meeting on Saturday with representatives of private college associations, said that it was agreed to hike fees by 10 per cent.
"The Associations had demanded 15 per cent hike but after convincing it was agreed for 10 per cent. As we are expecting a code of conduct anytime soon so we finalised the fee structure."
This is against the report of Justice Shylendra Kumar's Fee Regulatory Committee proposal for 8 per cent fee hike for last academic year. So with the new revision, the government has allowed for 18 per cent fee hike within two years, he added.
The govt seat which was 53,460 in private college, last year will now be Rs 58,800. With the COMED-K seats which were Rs 1,83,600 in last academic year will now be Rs 2,01,960 from this academic year.
