'Epicentre of global terrorism': Jaishankar slams Pakistan at UN

| @indiablooms | Sep 28, 2025, at 12:10 am

New York: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Pakistan at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, saying that “major international terrorist attacks are traced back to one country.”

He pointed to the recent terror strike in Pahalgam, which killed 26 tourists, mostly Hindu, as the latest example of cross-border terrorism.

“Terror hubs operate on an industrial scale, terrorists are publicly glorified, financing of terror must be choked,” Jaishankar told world leaders, without directly naming Pakistan.

The minister said India has faced this challenge since independence, enduring the presence of a neighbour that serves as the “epicentre of global terrorism.”

“For decades now, major international terrorist attacks are traced back to that one country. The UN’s designated lists of terrorists are replete with its nationals,” Jaishankar said, underlining the need for global resolve against state-sponsored terrorism.
